What’s new in ingredients? (Part 2)

Sederma regulates pigment disorders
With Wonderlight, Sederma takes on the skin’s pigment irregularities. Of plant origin, this active acts both on melanocytes and their associated keratinocytes. It reduces exchanges of the epidermal unit of melanization and blocks the signalization paths involved in melanin synthesis. Thus it demonstrates major effectiveness on hyperpigmented zones.

Clariant is thinking of the young
In contrast to the anti-age tidal wave, Clariant this spring is turning toward the youngest among us. With its, “Youth Concept,” it is offering a series of ingredients adapted to the sensitivity of young skin. One of these is Hostapon SF, a new surface active with amino acids for sulfatefree products that you rinse off (shampoo, face cleansers, shaving treatments, etc). The chemist is also offering Silcare, a water-in-oil/water-in-silicone emulsifier for body lotions and creams, tanning and makeup formulations; and Velsan, a nonallergenic, non-irritant anti-bacterial product that increases the effectiveness of the listed conventional preservatives, so you can reduce their amounts. There is also the Aristoflex polymer range.

Anti-aging products at Greentech and Silab
Beside its work on Silidine that fights a tired, heavy feeling in the legs (and shows great results against skin redness and signs of rosacea) and on Somitine, an energizer that offers in parallel a real effect on the skin’s radiance, Greentech is launching a new antiage active, Setiline: while fighting the keratinization linked to aging, this active makes it possible to maintain the softness and elasticity of the epidermis. With Vitalayer, Silab is offering a natural origin anti-aging active in its Les Incontournables range. The active guarantees homeostasis of the skin and provides multiple solutions for its imbalances. From officinal verbena, this multipurpose active can also be incorporated into the core of all anti-aging formulas.

Rahn is presenting its new Slimexir
A synergetic mix of extract of artichoke and polysaccharides with multiple properties, the new Slimexir prevents the formation of adipocytes, reduces the accumulation of lipids in cells, activates lipolysis, stimulates micro-circulation, all with a firming effect. This water-soluble active is easily incorporated into cosmetics formulations such as gels and emulsions, in concentrations of 2 to 10%.

DSM brightens up the complexion

Using pure resveratrol, DSM’s Regu-Fade softens and brightens the complexion while strongly reducing melanin production. DSM research scientists have been able to prove that this new ingredient minimized the pigmentation of the skin through many mechanisms, from initial signalization to gene expression, via the final transfer of melanosomes.
