The attraction of a “wellness” destination is the great subject of travel professionals, as most recently in Berlin at the international exhibition of tourism. Because sometimes misunderstood, EUROPEAN SPA SUMMIT dedicates to this topic a Master Class led by Raoul Andrews Sudre, consultant at Aspen Spa Management. To support spa professionals in the development of this trend more than appropriate for their industry, the session discusses in detail the main arguments for the success of projects.

Wellness is one of the main reasons why people travel today. To capitalize on this new demand, Raoul Andrews Sudre calls out to the fact of associating the concept of tourism to all levels. He will review various elements, from architecture to products or rituals, which will have to partner with exotism, change of scene,and smiles that the customer looks for.

It is not to be confused with medical tourism, which concerns destinations providing a therapeutic or surgical offer, wellness tourism  is mostly present in so-called southern countries (South-East Asia, Maghreb, Indonesia) for their environment that is conducive to relaxation.

Besides the beautiful sites, the heat and the change of scene, these countries have major advantages like a service of excellent quality for a lower cost than in Western countries. Another important asset, they do not undergo any restrictive regulations regarding the care provided, as it is the case in Europe for example. Massages and other beauty rituals are often enrolled in the local culture.

Closely linked to an eco-friendly commitment, this new concept of travelling brings new codes. How to introduce this approach in the development of a concept?
