Organic Formulation: Think out of the box

The Fourth Natural Beauty Summit Europe’s Masterclass which will take place on September 15th at “La Maison de la Chimie”, offers a new experience on formulation of natural and organic cosmetic.

As Sandie Jaidane, the operator manager, explains: “The natural cosmetics’ dynamic will contribute to the evolution of the entire beauty industry. The cosmetic qualities’ evolution of natural products can now offer complete solutions with high performances  (security, efficiency, comfort, …) which have nothing to envy to conventional cosmetics.

But it still has to be apprehended with the most effective way!

Sandie Jaidane continues althrough the temptation of a strict substitution of conventional ingredients by their” equivalent Bio ” is “natural”, it is also one of the major limitations of the Formulation or Reformulation in Natural. “.

During this intervention, Vincent Bourgeteau, Ethnobotanist and Ngub Nding, Pharmacist, both General Managers of EPHYLA Labotarory, will lead the participants to a new reflexion on organic and natural formulation, as Ngub Nding describes:

“In the natural cosmectics’formulation innovation context, we must resist to the (very strong) temptation to substitute the conventional ingredients with” the same thing in Organic “(often meaningless…). The question is rather to use an old technique, already well-known by other creative sectors, the famous “thinking out of the box” of our Anglo-Saxon friends:

1.      Forget all our knowledge and preferences on formulationand even definition of organic products (at least concerning galenic forms) That already announces a lot to come!

2.      Recover only the supervision factors (not the limiting ones …): regulations, specifications (Nature and quality of raw materials for organic products for example). This is our “toolbox”

3.      Have a high regard to the goals, the consequences and the results expected by the consumer (skin moisturizing, wrinkle reducing…)

4.      Let the imagination run free to reach these goals (custumer satisfaction) using legal tools (supervision factors), first by trying a maximum to forget the conventional formulations.

In fact, the goal is to find the spirit and the true meaning of the materials  we use, and allow them to show their potential. Like wine or olive oil, these products have to be known in depth by the producor before use. In short, it is not enough to read an analysis report or the latest release of  the subject (although it can be very useful!), but it is essential to know how to “play”, to always try new things, and new opportunities to discover or rediscover the infinite potential of natural products.
