Despite the financial crisis 2010 has seen the opening of some 100 five star properties in Europe. Tophotelprojects.com®, official partner of the European Spa exhibition & summit, analyzed the registered data counting among them11 new premium properties in Germany, 4 in Poland, 11 in Italy, 8 in France and 19 in the United Kingdom.
Most of them with the respective wellness guest offering. Such as the Coworth Park Hotel in Ascot whose eco-luxury spa treatment area has been predominantly built out of timber structures with lime hemp walls to create a green and sustainable building. Or take a look at the new Lifehouse in Essex with its has 89 guestrooms and 35 treatment rooms, plus gym, outdoor fitness circuit, yoga, pilates studio, swimming pool, thermal spa area, relaxation areas, 15 manicure and pedicure stations, make up bays, a hairdressing salon and a spa boutique.
This year will see an even higher number of 5-star openings. Tophotelprojects.com® has identified 162 luxury hotels that have already or will open their doors this year. Germany leads the listing with 28 new high end hotels, followed by Spain and the UK (19), Italy (9) and France (5). The Park Hyatt will be opening its latest property in Mallorca in late summer this year. This hotel will offer a 1,600 m² spa area. The spa area of the forthcoming Waldorf Astoria Berlin operated by Hilton Worldwide and also opening end of this year will have a 1,100 m² spa area
Looking further ahead Tophotelprojects.com® has per today registered European 5-star data sheets of 103 development projects in 2012, 53 in 2013 and 21 in 2014. For 2015 and after 9 premium developments have so far been identified.

By next year a French historic mansion, literally next to the Château de Versailles, will be renovated into a five-star, 22-room luxury hotel, called the Grand Hôtel de l’Orangerie. The Belgian company Ivy International has been commissioned to head the restoration estimated to cost $7 million and operate the property for 30 years. Another astonishing project, called “Le Cheval Blanc”, will be the transformation of the former La Samaritaine department store in Paris into a luxury hotel with some 100 rooms overlooking the Seine.
Due to the Summer Olympics 2012 in London international tourism will see the opening of what is one of the most ambitious architectural endeavours in the United Kingdom. Inside the spire of London Bridge Tower, the new 310 meters high Shangri-La will be one of the tallest buildings in Europe, Two years later the Winter Olympics 2014 will be hosted in the Russian city of Sochi. B then an additional 9 top hotel projects with a total of 8009 rooms will be added to the city’s infrastructure. The Azerbaijani billionaire Telman Ismailov even plans to build a giant hotel complex with 4000 to 5000 rooms.
