Jo Wood, a British national and daughter of a South African descendant of the Pondo tribe, has had an unusual destiny.
A famous model in the ’70s, she married Ronnie Wood, the Rolling Stones guitarist, with whom she had four children. You might say she knows what a “tour” means, rock-and-roll style. After her divorce, a health problem and a meeting with an herborist made her think about her lifestyle. She changed the way she ate, her pace, got better, refocused her life and started doing research on vegetables, cosmetics, and all kinds of oils.
In 2003, at age 55, she created her company Jo Wood Organics, specialized in fragrance and organic products. Two years later, she started her line in a small shop at Harvey Nichols and on the Internet. It’s a range of 16 Ecocert certified products based on four fragrances with African names: Amka (waking, in Swahili), Usiku (night – spicy-woody), Tula (calm – flowery-woody), and Langa (sun – citrusy-woody), all with shower gel references.
In 2011 several eau de toilettes will appear, and Jo is currently working on an organic, ethical clothing line. To talk about all that, what could be better than a TV show on lifestyles?
