• Starting by reviewing two factors involved in the physiological mechanism of hypersensitivy, the increasing permeability of the stratum corneum and the hyperreactiveness of the peripheral nervous system, Symrise developed SymSitive 1609, “the future generation of actives for sensitive skin,” explains Dr Joachim Röding, Senior VP of Life Essentials and Global Head of Cosmetic Ingredients. SymSitive acts as a regulator by increasing the skin’s tolerance level.

• Mibelle has obtained Ecocert certification for AquaCacteen, a soothing, hydrating and firming active on which the company has just completed new effectiveness tests for men’s skin. In addition, in September it relaunched its CM-Glucan Granulate, one of its star actives that repairs sensitized or greatly aggressed skin, on which it has also conducted new tests. These two actives, which target sensitive skin, also have anti-age properties and ward off photo-aging.

• A new-generation cosmeceutical active, Skinasensyl, a pure tetrapeptide from Laboratoires Sérobiologiques, soothes hyperreactive skin by decreasing the release of pro-infl mmatory neuromediators (CGRP), reducing sensory nerve fibers’ response to external stimuli, by activating μ opioid receptors on nerve endings. It increases the skin tolerance level and minimizes sensations of pain and discomfort.
