Chemistry has made progress, notably thanks to the pharmaceutical industry, and this has benefited fragrance. Especially for chiral chemistry, which has been practiced for years in the fragrance industry (levo-/dextrorotatory separation) but is becoming a basic trend at a time when new products are more and more expensive because of tests and REACH. So, in refining the chemistry that purifies molecules by withdrawing facets, you add to the palette. That’s why the Indians and the Chinese are launching into chemistry for the fragrance industry, with a lot of know-how and their widely proven technical skill in generic pharmaceuticals.
